Joe Buzzelli started his violin studies with Dr. Mary Natvig at the age of 5 and currently studies with Ioana Galu. He has been a member of the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras since 2007. He was the recipient of three Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra Remembrance Fund Awards (2008, 2009, 2013) and has received “Superior” ratings at the OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest. He played "Celtica” as a soloist with the Bowling Green Middle School Orchestra in 2007. He was a prizewinner in the Sauder Village Student Fiddler’s Contests and Dan Emmet Fiddle Competition, and was the Fiddler for Anthonly Wayne High School’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. He was a member of the pit orchestra for Bowling Green High School’s productions of Willy Wonka and Beauty and the Beast. Joe is a red belt in UKS karate (the black belt equivalent for members under the age of 16). He is a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and was voted into the Order of the Arrow. He is a member of the Bowling Green High School boy’s tennis team.
Samantha Hudson plays flute and violin. She began studying with Ioana Galu in 2009. She was a member of the Toledo Youth Junior Orchestra from 2008 to 2010, has been a member of the Toledo Youth Orchestra since 2010. She has played in the BowlingGreen High School Orchestra since 2009 and served as concertmaster of the BGHS Orchestra since 2012. She has earned "Superior" ratings at OMEA competitions for violin, flute and piccolo. She performed as a violin soloist with the Heart-full Sound band’s soloist concert in 2011. Samantha has been involved in several theater productions including the BGHS Drama Club's production of Anatomy of Gray, in which she played a leading role. She has participated in several Model United Nations simulations and has completed leadership training in the Girl Scouts. She studied overseas in Japan in a full immersion experience through the Rotary International Exchange Program during the 2011-2012 school year.
Joshua Orr has studied violin with Ioana Galu since 2007. He has been the concertmaster of the Findlay Youth Orchestra between 2009 and 2011 and was the principal second violinist of the Ohio All-State Orchestra in 2011. He has been a member of the Perrysburg Symphony since 2011 and was a member of the Findlay Community Orchestra during the 2011-2012 season. Joshua was the winner of the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra Young Artist's Concerto Competition in 2011 and played the first movement of Bruch's Violin Concerto as a soloist with the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra in the same year. He also appeared as a soloist together with Ioana Galu in the Bach Double Violin Concerto with the Southern Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra Benefit Concert in March 2012. He has been accepted to several prestigious summer festivals including the Indiana Summer Strings Program in 2012, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in 2011 and 2013, and Eastern Music Festival in 2009. He gained the position of first violinist in the Honors Quartet at the Bowling Green State University Summer Music Institute String Camp in 2012 and 2013. He plays first violin with the Boingers for the Findlay First Edition show choir. He has played as a volunteer at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the First Presbyterian Church in Findlay, Ohio.
Whitney Stuberg is currently studying violin with Ioana Galu. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Music Education. While her main instrument is the cello, she has recently begun to focus on the violin. A native of Oklahoma, Whitney is now living in Ohio and is the Vocal Music Director at Lakota Local Schools in Kansas, Ohio. Whitney considers that Ioana Galu has changed her perspective and approach to teaching and technique through body awareness and confidence building techniques.
